Film Review: Ageless Love

Ageless Love
Starring Beth Caponigro and Nick R. McCormack (Runfolo)

A lighthearted tale of two people who literally stood the test of time to live their lives together. Before I saw the film, I was tortured by watching the trailer repeatedly until it’s release on. February 7. I can tell you it was worth the wait. Ageless Love is a charming recollection of the courtship of Yale and Nina Schwartz. It’s comedic but most of all, it’s memorable.

I have watched many films where the narrator tells their story through a series of flashbacks but this is different. Yale begins his trip down memory lane; where he was with Nina again, his friends, and his family and he invites us along for the ride. What is brilliant and different about this storytelling is that it is personal. Yale takes us on a journey through his memories and it’s like he opened them to us.

It’s more than a love story; it’s a love lesson. When Yale asks his mother how he knows when it’s true love and she answers, “When you can’t live without her,” you find yourself completely in love with love again. It’s staying by each other and never abandoning the other. The way Nina and Yale handle the controversy surrounding their romance is truly inspiring.

Their relationship was built on trust, friendship, and blossomed into the purest of loves not many witness in their lifetime. Yale shares how they came together, what brought them together and what kept them together. In true tradition of Yale’s essence, he brought the story to us through the direction of Joshua Coates who has captured the essence of the story brilliantly and effortlessly. The editing from real life to the animation that further illustrated Yale’s words truly brought a beautiful personal character to Yale’s inner most, powerful feelings.

Casting couldn’t be more perfect with the chemistry between leads Beth Caponigro and Nick R. McCormack (Runfolo) flowed with grace as well as their chemistry to the rest of the cast. I must say that my favorite character was Aunt Shirley (Val McAdoo). Loved her! She was one of THOSE friends and one of THOSE aunts; fun, light, and welcoming to all.

Knowing the story before watching the film, one would think it to be bittersweet especially after finding out that Nina and Yale met the same fate but years apart. In fact, this film is a lighthearted, fun, loving tribute to these two. The humor is uncanny and has perfect timing. His relationship with his Bubbie, reminds me of the bond with my Mommom; one to be treasured. You can feel the love put into the making of this film and the love Yale had for his family. It left me speechless, happy, and truly pulls at my heart strings. As I type this, I’m watching it for the second time because I love it so much. It’s $4.99 to rent on Amazon Prime and it is the best $4.99 I ever spent.

Check out Ageless Love and feel the magic. Rest in peace to Yale and Nina. Thank you, Yale for sharing your story and thank you to Joshua Coates and the cast of Ageless Love for bringing his dream to life. It’s made its mark on my heart.
